As DevSecOps Engineer at homeQgo you play a crucial role in the reliability and security of our platform that guides our residential customers in making their houses more sustainable and thus supports them in reducing energy costs and fighting climate change. The online platform offers objective and personal (data-driven) advice and connects homeowners with proven sustainability solution providers.

HomeQgo has recently undergone significant organisational changes to enhance its technological infrastructure and improve its service delivery. We have implemented an Event-Driven Architecture and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enable rapid, secure, and transparent development. These changes have facilitated the integration of new solutions and enhanced the overall agility and scalability of the platform.

Acting on a staff engineer level, you will be responsible for the security practices into our DevOps processes, ensuring that our software is secure throughout the development lifecycle. By a combination of thorough understanding of security, DevOps process, our IT infrastructure, and great leadership skills, you are able to guide your colleagues in security policies, standards, and best practices. You will work closely with development, operations and management to design and implement robust security measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security practices at each stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Design, implement, and manage security tools and frameworks for automated security testing.
  • Help with conducting threat modelling and vulnerability assessments to identify and own security risks.
  • Develop and coach others in security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Monitor security incidents and respond to breaches in a timely and effective manner.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on secure coding practices and DevSecOps principles.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a DevSecOps Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, SDLC and observability.
  • Hands-on mentality and ability to integrate security best practices at every process stage of the SDLC.
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading initiatives in a DevOps setting, and possessing strong communication skills.
  • Expertise in security tools and technologies such as, SAST, DAST, SCA.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Powershell) and automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and their security services.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the intention to implement complex security solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communication with external stakeholders.
  • Experience as a Software Engineer and Tech Lead.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling, such as Terraform.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) and regulatory requirements.
  • Practical experience with Threat Modeling.
